Hatha Yoga Guildford

Make some time for yourself. Find a new balance within your own natural resources.

I believe yoga is not just for the strong and the flexible but is for everyone - you don't have to be able to wrap your leg around your neck to enjoy the benefits of yoga!

I run friendly Hatha yoga classes and work hard to ensure my classes are suitable for all, offering modifications and alternatives to make all aspects of yoga accessible for all.

In my yoga classe you will be lead mindfully through the physical practice, both stretching and toning your body. Breath work aids the mind-body connection stimulating the parasympathic nervous system and helps with general good breathing practice. Relaxation at the end of class is the perfect antidote for stress, leaving you with a whole mind and body workout by the end of class.

Is yoga for you?

May I be happy.

May I be peaceful.

May I be free from harm.

May I enjoy happiness at its root.

May I experience ease and well being in body, mind and spirit

Why Yoga?

Yoga is unique in that a balanced practice benefits both the body and the mind, whilst guiding each of us on our individual journey through life. Yoga is a system of techniques that can be used for a number of goals, from simply managing stress better, learning to relax, and increasing limberness and strengthening the muscles to becoming more self-aware. A regular practice of yoga not only promotes physical health and flexibility but works at a deeper level to focus and understand the mind and relieve stress.

Physical benefits include, strengthening core muscles promoting better back health. Postural muscles are toned and stretched increasing all muscle and joint function.

These days we tend to lead sedentary lives- working at computers, watching television, driving our cars. Our bodies were designed to move. Muscles create movement through the joints. If we spend much of our time being still our joints become stiff and our muscles tight and lazy. Yoga postures allow our bodies to reverse this damage by gently moving the joints and working the correct muscle groups. This combination will gradually help to improve your posture and all of these factors should help to alleviate aches and pains, all while toning your body.
